Master Health Checkup

master health checkup

What is a master health checkup?

A master health checkup is a planned set of blood tests, scans and a doctor’s examination that looks at how your major organs are working, even when you feel perfectly well. It is sometimes called a full body checkup or a preventive health checkup.

Many common conditions, such as high blood sugar, high cholesterol, fatty liver, thyroid imbalance or low vitamin levels, often cause no symptoms in their early stages. A master health checkup can pick up these changes early, when they are usually easier to manage with simple steps such as diet, activity or medicines.

At Marina’s Clinic in Nungambakkam, every master health checkup in Chennai ends the same way: a one-to-one review of your results with Dr. Preethi Mrinalini K, our Chief Consultant Surgeon. You leave knowing what your numbers mean and what, if anything, to do next.

Who should consider a health checkup?

A health checkup is worth considering if you:

  • Are over 30, and especially over 40
  • Have a family history of diabetes, heart disease, thyroid problems or digestive conditions
  • Have diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol and want a full review
  • Are overweight, or have a desk job with little physical activity
  • Smoke, drink alcohol regularly, or have frequent acidity or irregular bowel habits
  • Haven’t had a full checkup in the last one to two years

Why choose Marina's Clinic for your health checkup

Reviewed by a consultant surgeon

Your results are explained by Dr. Preethi Mrinalini K, MBBS, MS (Gen Surg), FMBS, FARIS (RCS Edinburgh). If a finding needs attention, such as a gallstone on ultrasound or a hernia found on examination, you speak to the specialist who can treat it.

A female surgeon for women's checkups

Many women feel more at ease when a breast examination or a discussion about bowel or piles symptoms is with a female doctor.

Unhurried and personal

A smaller clinic means shorter waits and real time with the doctor, not a crowded health-check floor.

One address in Nungambakkam

Consultation, blood tests and pharmacy at one clinic, easy to reach from T. Nagar, Kodambakkam, Egmore and Thousand Lights

How to prepare for your master health checkup

  • Fast overnight for 10–12 hours

before your appointment. Plain water is fine.

  • Book a morning slot

so the fasting samples are taken first. [Confirm checkup hours.]

  • Take your usual medicines

unless we tell you otherwise. If you take medicines for diabetes, ask us before fasting.

  • Bring

previous reports, prescriptions and a list of current medicines.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothes

since you may need an ECG and an ultrasound.

  • For women

it is better to schedule the checkup outside your period, as it can affect the urine test.

What happens on the day

  1. Registration: check in at the front desk with your booking details.
  2. Fasting samples: blood and urine samples are collected first.
  3. Breakfast and post-meal sample: you eat a normal breakfast, and a second blood sample is taken 2 hours later. [Confirm whether breakfast is provided.]
  4. Scans and ECG: ECG, X-ray and ultrasound, depending on your package.
  5. Consultation and review: Dr. Preethi examines you and explains your results once they are ready.

Most checkups take about [2–3] hours. Some reports may be ready the same day, and your review can be scheduled at a convenient time if they take longer. [Confirm.]

Your report and next steps

You receive a complete report with all your results, plus a summary of what needs attention. Dr. Preethi will explain each finding, suggest any changes to diet or lifestyle, and advise when to repeat the checkup.

If a test shows something that needs further care, such as gallstones, a hernia or a thyroid swelling, you can continue your treatment at Marina’s Clinic without starting over somewhere new.

How often should you have a health checkup?

For most healthy adults under 40, a checkup every two to three years is reasonable. Over 40, or with diabetes, high blood pressure or a strong family history, a yearly checkup is often advised. Dr. Preethi will suggest the right interval for you based on your results.

Master health checkup cost in Chennai

The cost of a master health checkup in Chennai depends on how many tests and scans are included, and whether a specialist consultation is part of the package. At Marina’s Clinic, every package includes a consultation and report review with Dr. Preethi, so there is no separate charge to have your results explained. Call us on +91 98840 00171 for package details and to choose the right one for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in a master health checkup?

A master health checkup usually includes blood tests for sugar, cholesterol, liver, kidney and thyroid function, a complete blood count, urine tests, an ECG, a chest X-ray and an ultrasound of the abdomen, followed by a doctor’s consultation. The full list for each of our packages is in the table above.

What is the difference between a full body checkup and a master health checkup?

The terms are often used interchangeably. A full body checkup usually means a set of blood and urine tests. A master health checkup is usually more complete, adding scans such as an ECG, X-ray and ultrasound, plus a doctor’s examination and consultation.

How long does a master health checkup take?

Most checkups take about [2–3] hours, including the post-meal blood test, which is taken two hours after breakfast.

Do I need to fast before a health checkup?

Yes. Please fast for 10–12 hours overnight. Plain water is fine. This is needed for accurate blood sugar and cholesterol results.

How much does a master health checkup cost in Chennai?

Costs vary with the tests and scans included. Every package at Marina’s Clinic includes a consultation with Dr. Preethi. Please call us for package details.

Can I claim a tax benefit for my health checkup?

Under the old tax regime, preventive health checkups qualify for a deduction of up to ₹5,000 a year under Section 80D, within the overall limit. Please confirm with your tax adviser.

When will I get my reports?

Most reports are ready within [same day / 24 hours]. Specialised tests may take longer. [Confirm.]
